Abstract :
A new component has been introduced to the first-year engineering course at the University of Edinburgh (UK) aiming to promote study skills under the guise of professional engineering. This article looks at the philosophy and implementation of this new component and relates the authors´ experience so far in the hope that this may benefit other educators working on similar projects
