Abstract :
WiFi-based Long Distance (WiLD) networks are expected to run real-time applications such as Video-conferencing, Telemedicine, E-learning, VoIP (Voice over IP), etc. Providing Quality of Service (QoS) guarantees for various real-time applications in such a resource-constrained network is a challenging issue. The time slots allotted to a node in TDMA based MAC protocol need to be utilized meeting the QoS demands of different real-time traffic. A newly generated real-time flow should be admitted in such a way that the admitted flow will not affect any other ongoing real-time flow. In this paper, we propose a flow based anticipatory packet scheduling protocol which prepares fine-tuned transmission schedule according to the QoS demands of different traffic priority classes. To facilitate more granular schedule preparation, the scheduling protocol classifies the real-time packets into three different categories. Further, this paper proposes a 2-Phase localized admission control mechanism which ensures QoS for the active flows. Simulation results in NS-2 validate the claims of the paper.
