Abstract
A novel distributed MAC protocol for delay QoS provisioning on the uplink of 3GRANs (3rd generation radio access networks) is studied. The protocol uses a combination of inhibit signalling and deadline driven binary back-off on WCDMA to control the transmissions of users. The proposed scheme outperforms centralised scheduling in mobile, multi-cell environments by at least doubling the amount of non-real time, high-speed data traffic.
