Abstract :
Tjeerd Hoek is the design director and group manager of user experience design for Windows Vista. His belief that ´perception is reality´ can be traced to his background in interface and industrial design. He graduated Cum Laude with a Master´s degree in industrial design engineering from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, and joined Microsoft in 1994. Since then, he has acquired a shelf full of patent awards and led the design teams of such important Microsoft products as Office and MSN. He spoke exclusively to Kris Sangani about some of the design considerations that went into Vista.
