Abstract
This paper proposes a new boundary coding algorithm suitable for object-based image sequence coding system. The boundary is approximated by a polygon which can be encoded with the smallest number of bits for maximum distortion. The proposed scheme selects the vertex points considering the shape information from the past frames. The temporal redundancy between two successive frames is efficiently removed with the proposed scheme, resulting in lower bit-rate than the conventional algorithms
