Abstract :
Developments associated with advanced batteries for large scale power applications have resulted in renewed interest in the use of batteries as a form of electric energy storage by utilities. Concerns which must be addressed to facilitate commercialization of battery systems and their integration into electric power systems are discussed along with programs and demonstrations designed to address these concerns and support the development of battery systems.
