Abstract :
A deep seated issue in British Education is that centred around the concepts of education and training. This has contributed to the disappointing rate of development of engineering studies in schools. German schools appear to produce better results, particularly with less able pupils, but the educational initiatives which are taking place in Britain should help to reduce this difference. However, the benefits will only be realised if they are associated with changes in current attitudes towards education in schools, industry and the country at large
