Abstract
A rigorous solution to the problem of coupling reduction between the receiving and transmitting aperture antennas by using an electromagnetic band gap (EBG) structure is theoretically and experimentally investigated. The estimation of the decoupling level for the synthesised EBG structure is given. The radiation patterns of both the antennas are also presented. The moment method is used to solve the integral equations. Finally, the authors perform an experiment on the frequency dependence of the decoupling level and compare numerical and experimental results. Good agreement between simulation and measurement is achieved.
