    The author describes how new and improved display technologies are giving electronics a fresh look. Active-matrix liquid crystal displays (LCDs) with improved image quality and larger viewing angles are on the verge of replacing CRTs, while reflective displays (with very low power consumption) and cholesteric displays (which need no power to retain an image) are making new portable products possible
