Abstract
The consensus of the experts is that remote sensing by satellite is by far the most effective technology that can be used in the interests of peacekeeping. As the power of satellite systems to identify ground-based military equipment and facilities increases, the need for on-site inspections to verify treaty conformance may decrease to the point where it is no longer an issue.
