  • Abstract
In this paper, we discuss a possibility to apply the mathematical techniques that are used in hydrodynamics to radar polarimetry. Radar scatterers, particularly liquid hydrometeors motion in the gaseous flow, drop deformation and conditions for drop division are studied. Deformation of the drops is associated with polarization features of electromagnetic waves reflected from weather object, and this phenomenon is used to retrieve information about wind that is considered as the origin of drop behavior. In this paper, we discuss the approach that is based on the concept of polarization spectrum of radar signal reflected from weather target. The possibility to use this approach for wind speed calculation and drop size estimate is shown.
