Abstract :
The Schroeder and random methods are compared with a time-frequency-domain swapping algorithm for the crest-factor reduction of logtones used in 1/3 octave analysis. The theoretically stated tendency of logtone-crest factors to grow with the square root of the logarithm of the number of components is confirmed experimentally. This dependence also holds for optimally compressed logtones
