Abstract
A method is presented for the formulation and solution of the HVDC converter periodic steady-state by a direct method. The method fully accounts for AC/DC power system interactions as the system is modeled in such detail as to include AC side filter banks as well as DC side dynamics. The system under study is the CIGRE benchmark model for HVDC control studies. In spite of the relatively high order of the system under study, implementation of the method is nonetheless realizeable on commercially available numerical software and presents an attractive alternative to time-domain simulation for harmonic studies associated with HVDC power converters
