Abstract
A solid-state laser medium is known to behave as a weak lens under the influence of thermal gradients generated due to the nonuniform heating and cooling of the laser host material. The authors show that the fractional change in optical power due to induced thermal lensing can be greatly increased by careful choice of the size and position of an out-of-focus aperture
