Abstract :
Gapless arresters for pad mount transformer applications require metal oxide varistor elements of exceptional temperature stability because of the high ambient possible in an unventilated compartment. This paper describes the testing programs in the development of the blocks. It details many of the test results under steady state and surge conditions.
