Abstract :
A joint FIR pre and postfilter design for MIMO communications is proposed. The prefilter controls the transmitted signal spectrum and greatly reduces the error rate. We use random search to minimize the mean square error. The proposed method is applied to ocean acoustic channels with an array of spatially diverse antennas. Our results show that the joint design of the pre and postfilter dramatically improves both SISO and especially MIMO channels
