Abstract :
The probability distribution function of the system penalty is numerically evaluated considering the four wave mixing effect in a realistic fibre network. Owing to chromatic dispersion nonuniformity, Monte Carlo simulations predict a remarkable statistical reduction in the impairments, with respect to the worst case for the uniform fibre. Frequency translation of the channels can provide a slight improvement
