Abstract
The frequent occurrence of natural disasters and accidents urge a strong demand on a novel localization system for search and rescue. This paper presents a scheme of wireless phone-based detection and localization system. The system can induce the mobile phones to transmit radio frequency signals to outside receiver without victims´ activation. Moreover, both time-difference-of-arrival (TDOA) approach and signal-strength-of-arrival (SSOA) approach are used for faster and better positioning, and a hand set is designed to help implement SSOA method. Finally, verification measurement in a relatively complicated lab has been conducted to analyze the channel propagation characteristics.
