Abstract :
In through-the-wall imaging, the wall causes wave refraction and a change in the propagation speed, which leads to defocus and misplace of behind-the-wall targets in the image formed by traditional image formations. In this paper, a novel through-the-wall image formation for virtual aperture radar (VAR) is presented, which employs the environmental model to correct the wave refraction effect on focusing behind-the-wall targets. The parameters of environmental model are estimated from the radar return. Real data of a through-the-wall VAR system are used to validate the efficiency of our proposed method.
