Abstract :
The electromagnetic wave propagation on a human body is studied using a measurement approach. First the complex transmission data is collected around a human body at 2.45 GHz using a pair of monopole antennas. The same measurement setup is also used for open space transmission data collection. Comparison between on-body and open space measurements reveals that there is one dominant wave mechanism propagating around the body. Propagation characteristics of this creeping wave mechanism, such as propagation constants and attenuation constants, are extracted from the measurement data using a super resolution algorithm ESPRIT.
