Flinn, Director, "is endeavoring to incite an exhaustive study of the fatigue of metals." This is pursuant to a declaration by the official journal of the American Chemical Society that further knowledge of the fatigue of metals is essential to guard against repetition of mishap to aircraft, such as the tragic fate of the Shenandoah.
