Abstract :
An experimental evaluation system for characterization of magnetostrictive actuators is presented. The system comprises a horizontal, rigid fixture consisting of two yokes and cylindrical legs. The fixture rests on rubber wheels and can be moved smoothly through a heavy back mass with the help of a double acting hydraulic cylinder. The fixture can be clamped to the heavy back mass with the help of hydraulically operated, self locking wedges. Experimental results obtained from magnetostrictive actuators mounted in the system are also presented that demonstrate its performance
