Abstract :
The economics of life-cycle management of wood pole utility structures is discussed. Recently developed technology which enables innovative management techniques for wood poles is discussed. Results of full-scale tests of in-service wood poles which provide important information on rates of pole degradation are reviewed. These data enable realistic cost assessments for frequency of pole replacement and/or repair. Methods for calculating life-cycle costs are presented
