Abstract
The effect of some important system parameters on the fatigue life reduction of turbogenerator rotor shafts, due to large scale disturbances of the HV electrical network, is investigated. These system design parameters are relevant with the turbine, the generator and the network. Moreover, the effect of the out-of-phase synchronisation angle on the fatigue life reduction of the rotor shaft is studied. These studies were carried out using system simulation techniques while the hysteric damping was expressed by a novel nonlinear expression.
