Abstract
A random signal system dedicated to echo detection and location is described. Using the correlation radiometry principle, this system provides the ability to locate a mismatched discontinuity inserted in a TEM cell. Extension to short-range applications, such as level gauging, anticollision radar, mine detection, or the field of telecommunications, such as multipath propagation description, can also be considered. Experimental results provide a time resolution better than 0.1 ns when operating with a 2 GHz bandwidth system centred on 3 GHz
