Abstract
According to the authors, there is no sane, no rational, no informed person who does not recognize that protection from the risks of Internet use comes down to a choice: blind faith or self-defense. All versions of "trust us, and you\´ll be okay" are probabilistic falsities. They use this essay to discuss trust and its role in security.
