Abstract
Thickness dependence of magneto-optical properties of a Co-wedge/Pd-wedge sandwich was investigated employing the magneto-optical micro-magnetometer and spectroscopic technique. At the fixed Co-layer thickness, the transverse Kerr effect (TKE) decreased with increasing Pd-thickness and oscillated along with Pd-thickness periodically. The period of the oscillation was equal to about 1.2 nm. The oscillatory behavior of TKE was ascribed to the spin-polarized quantum well states in the Pd-layer. It was discovered that the Pd layer exerted an influence upon the magneto-optical properties of the Co-wedge more significantly in the ultraviolet photon energy range
