Abstract
An analytical solution to the magnetic field generated in a linear synchronous machine excited by permanent magnets is presented. Eddy currents induced in the literature core are evaluated. These results are also applicable to cylindrical machines, provided that the pole number is four or greater. The results of the analysis are compared with the experimental results and the correlation seen to be good.
