Abstract :
A new colour edge detection operator that uses the shape information provided by the local probability distribution of the image is investigated and evaluated. The proposed approach is based on the relative entropy index (Erel), which has long been used as a distance measure between two distributions. The technique is tested on real and artificial images with very good results
