Abstract
One of the major advantages of high-voltage extruded dielectric cables is that they tend to be simple to terminate, joint and connect into equipment. These advantages were not immediately apparent, but were uncovered by a cable industry that was tired with conventional methods of termination. It decided to take a new look at the problem working from first principles. A close liaison was established between relevant industries and a new breed of cable accessory emerged, the development of which over the past 15 years can only be described as dramatic.
