Abstract :
A view of the work needed to relate objective and subjective telecommunications system performance measures is presented. Critical issues regarding performance measurement are discussed, conveying the shortfalls of current methods and the impact of new transmission technologies and services. Desirable future activities and objectives are outlined regarding the classification and definition of different services, and the development of performance measures.<>
