Nuclear power station safety

There has never been a time since October 1957, on the occasion of the first generation of electrical power from nuclear energy, when the attention of the public has been more focused on the needs for safeguards in the operation of nuclear power stations and on the effects to the environment and ecology of radioactive effluents and wastes discharged from these stations.
