Abstract :
An increasing usage of real-time online services is emerging. The service providers are facing challenges to provide a quality of service and maximize the profits obtained to sustain in the competition. Timeliness is a major criterion in judging the quality-of-service provided by service provider. The time dependent functions represent accrued profit when completed before their deadlines and accrued penalty otherwise. This paper presents how sensitive the Profit and Penalty aware (PP-aware) scheduling approach is to task execution time distribution model and gain/loss function.
