Abstract :
A new frequency-assignment plan for broadcasting in the long and medium wavebands will be implemented in 1978. An international conference met in January 1977 to prepare a plan for satellite broadcasting direct to the home, and in 1979 there is to be another conference to review all uses of the radio-frequency spectrum. Meanwhile, the technology is developing rapidly. How best can the broadcaster take advantage of these factors to improve his services to the public?
