BLADE SERVERS are cutting gaily into the server market, with their total share predicted by IDC to increase from 4.6% at $2.5bn in 2005, to 20% at $10bn in 2009. This growth is being driven by a demand for `high-density?? computing, as blades are better equipped to meet this demand than rack-mounted or standalone servers.
