Abstract
This article focuses on six women who made important contributions to the control systems field. For each, biographical data is provided, as well as a sketch of their research interests and accomplishments. All of these women had to make their way in a field dominated by men. They are: Irmgard Flugge-Lotz (1903-1974); Violet Haas (1928-1986); Faina M. Kirillova (b.1931); Makiko Nisio (b.1931); Huashu Qin; and Jane Cullum
