Abstract :
The rating of traction motors is first discussed, and it is shown that the one-hour rating has no significance in connection with modern motors, and should be dropped, inas-much as it tends to interfere with rational development. The heating of the motors is then analysed, and methods for estimating it in a given service are described. Finally, service tests are discussed, with their relation to certain stand-tests based on the given service.
