Abstract :
Forward scattering certainly can be considered from a more general point of view than I did in my brief note. There, I only wanted to point out the somewhat curious fact that although the total field in the shadow immediately behind an opaque object is zero, it actually increases slightly in the far zone. However, as Prof. Schejbal´s example of a circular disk clearly demonstrates, this is mostly a theoretical point. In practice, the scattered field soon decreases to rather insignificant magnitude, compared to the incident plane wave field, due to the 1/R decay.
