Abstract :
In this paper, the author looks into matching in rectangular waveguide device. It summarises some of the lessons in the course on computer aided design for electromagnetic systems Faculty of Engineering of the University of Florence. The course comprised, as its laboratory part, the implementation of a mode-matching (MM) code for rectangular waveguide in MATLAB. Such a code was then validated by analyzing with it several reference examples, and used to design a simple waveguide transition. This paper spans such an application only, focusing on the problem of designing a matched waveguide discontinuity joining a standard rectangular waveguide and a low-profile rectangular waveguide.
