Abstract :
This paper is a technical survey of the power failure which affected the Israeli electrical network on June 8, 1995. As a result of this failure, about 70% of consumers were disconnected from the energy supply. In the first part of the paper, the general power system characteristics and the condition of the power network before the incident are summarized. In the second part, the events during and after the failure are described. The third part summarizes the lessons learned from the power blackout and outlines future strategies to be adopted by the Israel Electric Corporation
