Abstract :
A new optical waveguide TE-TM mode-splitter realised on X-cut, Z-propagating lithium niobate is reported. At 1.52 mu m, the device exhibits extinction ratios better than 18 dB for applied voltages lower than 20 V, and can be used as a polarisation switch.
