Abstract :
The paper gives a general review of the important applications of electricity in scientific medicine and surgery. As the greatest field is without doubt the diagnostic and therapeutic applications of X-rays a large proportion of the paper is devoted to a general consideration of X-ray radiology, but the author regrets that, on account of brevity, many important aspects with which he has dealt in detail elsewhere have had to be omitted. The subjects of ultra-violet radiation, diathermy and other applications of electricity to stimulative therapy are also dealt with. The author draws attention to the comparatively small importance of radiology in this country, as compared with the importance of radiology upon the Continent and in America.
