Abstract :
Manpower costs are usually a major part of total costs, yet manpower costs are often estimated using an unreliable principle instilled into pupils at junior school. Here, the author describes how it is vital to be aware of the consequences of anything that affects the total number of man-hours used. He argues that failure to estimate manpower costs correctly will result in failure to predict profit correctly.
