Abstract
Traditionally, the strong points of the direct-view storage tube as a computer-display medium have been its very high resolution, its low cost compared with competing display technologies, and its flicker-free display. Its disadvantages were low interactivity, short tube life, dimness, and low contrast. In the future, manufacturers will maintain the high resolution, and will continue to address the challenge that inexpensive memory is presenting to the tube´s cost advantage. In addition, emerging technologies will continue to make advances in interactivity, life, brightness and contrast
