Abstract :
We introduce the Korean HDTV transmission system which is being developed and describe the design and implementation of the transport stream (TS) remultiplexer and data transport unit (DTU) which are based on the MPEG-2 standard. The remultiplexer performs the function of MPEG-2 TS packet multiplexing and corresponding program clock reference (PCR) time stamp correction. Also, the DTU can packetize and combine resource and subscriber management (RSM) data and multiple additional data into a MPEG-2 transport stream. Since MPEG-2 standard supports various environments, the proposed TS remultiplexer and DTU can be applied to many applications such as broadcasting and interactive services
