The voltage control of large alternators is considered, with special reference to large high-speed machines now being installed in capital stations. With a view to stimulating discussion the treatment is descriptive and is dealt with under the following headings:¿ Exciter stability. Exciter response. Alternator stability. Alternator response. Combined response of alternator and exciter.
