Abstract :
A network model is presented for the capacitively fed microstrip antenna element. This element consists of a ground plane, a radiating patch and a small patch located between the ground plane and radiating patch. The small patch is fed by a coaxial probe. The capacitive coupling between the patches allows the antenna to be matched. The network model is derived from a rigorous solution. The relationship between the lumped components of the network model and the physical working mechanism of the structure is described
