Abstract :
Practical techniques for optimizing the coil shape of a deflection yoke are proposed. An accurate and practical winding modeler is developed. A volume integral equation method is used for field calculation. A two-step optimization procedure is performed by using a 1+1 evolution strategy. The first step is for dimensional optimization, while the second performs the pin-position optimization. The optimization processes suitable for the deflection yoke are developed and various techniques are applied to reduce computational time for the optimization
