Abstract :
Important advances in digital signal processing for HDTV have occurred in Asia. This article outlines these advances, including trends in standard resolution television (STV) and progress in superhigh definition (SHD) imaging. Video coding, video recording, SHD image processing, and digital satellite broadcasting are covered, and trends in digital satellite TV and the challenges facing successful implementation of the technology are presented, as well as future research and development targets for HDTV
