Abstract
In IEEE802.11 standard, a method based on RTS and CTS is adopted as the method to solve the hidden terminal problem in ad-hoc networks. However, the throughput by this method greatly degrades when the traffic volume increases, because of the occurrence of collisions between RTSs or between CTS and DATA. Thus, we propose in this paper, we propose a method to improve the throughput of ad-hoc networks, by using a special control signal called “SBT” (Strong Busy Tone) based on the expanded that has expanded the reachable range of radio waves of conventional busy tones, and also by modifying the back-off algorithm of CSMA/CA.
